We work from a digital photo of an ultrasound that was already taken — by a credentialed sonographer, with low-power equipment, following ALARA safety guidance. We add zero exposure. We'll re-paint at no charge. Sometimes a dim or low-contrast scan needs a contrast boost before generation; if your first four-style set didn't render well, just reply to your delivery email and we'll re-run with a tuned pre-pass. The two best ways to get great results out the gate: scan from 24+ weeks gestation, and use the original digital file from your studio (not a phone snap of a printout) when you can.

About 90 seconds for the four-style set, end-to-end (median across our last 30 deliveries). The single realistic portrait alone takes roughly 30 seconds. We email a private gallery link plus high-resolution downloads as soon as the AI finishes. You can leave the tab open or close it and wait for the email.

No — and that's by design. Our AI paints what's visible in your scan: head shape, silhouette, posture. It does not invent a face, predict your baby's appearance, or simulate features that aren't in the source. That's what 'keepsake, not prediction' means in the small print.

Yes — and it's your archive, not ours. (1) Your original scan goes into a private bucket only our service-role key can access. (2) The generated art lives at unguessable UUID URLs that aren't indexed. (3) **Retention is your call**: by default we keep your archive in your account so you can revisit it later (helpful for second pregnancies, milestone comparisons, or just looking back). In account settings you can flip on auto-delete (30 days, 1 year, custom) — or delete any single keepsake, an entire pregnancy, or your whole account in one click. (4) Your scan is never used to train any AI model — ours, our providers', anyone's. Ever.

Best results are 24–32 weeks gestation, when the baby has enough fat to define features but is still small enough to capture in frame. Earlier scans (12–20 weeks) work too but the painting will read more abstract. Hand or face in front? The composition follows whatever's in your image — sometimes that becomes a charming detail.

Yes. Every delivery includes a private share link — send it to the grandparents, post it to your private group, attach to a birth announcement. No login required to view. The link works as long as the keepsake is in your archive; revoke it anytime from your account, or it expires automatically if you flip on auto-delete.

If you can't choose, get the four-style set ($24, or $19 early-bird). Customer pattern so far: watercolor for nursery walls, oil for the grandparents' fireplace, starry as the social-media hero, dreamy for the birth announcement. Most moms end up using all four.

Yes. We pay roughly $0.16 per four-style generation in AI compute. The rest pays for our editorial review, infrastructure, and a small margin. We don't run upsells, ads, or pressure tactics. Studio 3D photo sessions in your city run $99–$169 — we're not trying to compete with that, we're trying to be the digital keepsake you actually frame.
